Conclusion
Comic artists are completely unbound when it comes to choosing which material they want to work with, most commonly, comic artists work in fine liner and marker pens, and more recently they have moved onto digital media, as the finish is much smoother and professional, it is also less hassle as there is no need to scan illustrations onto the computer.

It is important, in this field of work, to be able to create a narrative that is engaging and exciting to read, this can be done in many ways – Peony Gent uses material to achieve an emotional response from the reader, where other comic artists such as Alison Bechdel and Scott McCloud use markers and fine liners with text and typical grammatical structures within her comics to create an engaging narrative.

Her clever use of soft and hard materials, with efficient colour choice allows her to efficiently convey a feeling without needing to include many words, creating a more intimate feel to her comics.

Peony Gent uses the composition of her page a lot more to convey messages, as her illustrations can be very experimental and feeling based, however she also draws quite accurately at times when needed for the narrative.
