Narrative in comics is one of the most popular forms of illustration.
It is not restricted to one individual style, and it is very versatile in its method of storytelling.

In my blog I want to go through four different areas of being a comic artist in the real world, and how this might look from a professional perspective.

Often comic artists use specific poses, compositions or panel layouts to send a message to the audience, and this can be done with or without text, however I believe that this is more effective when done without text, I will go over my research on a talk by Neil Cohn on why he has concluded that comics are a form of language in my professional practice section.

I will also go into why I have chosen soft materials, as it is not so common for comic artists to use this material, I feel that it is more effective at determining lighting and mood, and it also allows me to work quite quickly, I will develop this in the materials and processes section.

Alison Bechdel is a comic artist I have researched in a book called The Comics of Alison Bechdel From the Outside in, edited by Janine Utell and curated by a number of artists, in her comics she discusses a lot of topics relating to the LGBTQ community, and the common struggles associated with this community, I will go deeper into this in my section about ethical and moral considerations.
